Where HWY 60 meets HWY 19, continue south to Dahlonega to connect to HWY 52 (Chatsworth HWY) if you want to return to Ellijay. HWY 52 also connects with HWY 5 if you want to go south towards Atlanta. Cohutta Overlook is located near the middle of this route and is a popular stopping point for most motorcyclists. The views from this roadside turnoff are second to none. The length of the route is approximately 25 miles. I enjoy taking this route from both directions it feels like two different rides. I noticed during my last trip on this route a few potholes at the apex of some of the turns. The Georgia DOT is typically on top of its game, I would expect these to be repaired soon. Regardless, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention it, head on a swivel and eyes straight ahead. Ellijay is a great place to stop too. The town square is a picturesque mountain town with shops and eateries that a lot of riders frequent for their bargains, unique products, and delicious food.
